Our Green Earth

Russell Conyers

Waves of grass ripple

On the prairie.

Silver

‘Neath the cold light of the moon.

Steaming jungle in the morning,

A gaudy parrot flies by,

There are giant trees all ‘round you.

Marvel at their splendor.

Oasis in the desert,

Palm trees around a lake,

Elephants, camels, zebras, lions

Have come as equals to drink.

Mountains high and cold,

Where eagles soar and snow falls.

The trotting of the mountain goat,

And the roaring of an avalanche.

White tiger in the Tiber,

The forests of Siberia,

The snow of Russia,

Muffles the footsteps of a snow leopard.

Oceans deep,

Filled with iridescent fishes

The savage sharks

And the majestic whales.

Do you want these wonders to disappear? Help me to save them or, I fear,

That the Earth, our green Earth,

Will become a lifeless wasteland.

 Green Earth.

 Nicole Pedro

Litter, trash, polution, we need a solution. The answer is you and me can you see?!

Please be so kind and leave the car behind. Help keep Mother Earth clean for everyone to be seen.

Leave me some green space to play in. Put all the trash in the bin. Plant lots of trees and some flowers for the honeybees.

 Sunrise at Spittal Pond

 Gerry Begeman

The morning mingles a thousand blended notes,

While round the pond I walk one day,

Where ducks and coots on youngsters dote,

And cranes wade casually at play.

The ocean breakers crash nearby,

As sunrise brings its golden rays;

Long shadows cast from trees so high.

Alone I tread the winding way.

Longtails silhouette ‘gainst daybreak sky,

Their crackling calls as cliffs they near,

Swooping, diving, as they pass by.

Their chicks cry out when they appear.

This sanctuary with ocean near,

Protected pond with rocky shores,

Sheltered wildness, yet calm reigns here,

And still close by the ocean roars.

If all mankind could grasp this sight,

Where creation brings the healing way,

And ocean breeze and verdure
