Exhibits/Programmes » Recent Additions - The Natural History Museum. At a cost of $1.7 million, it focuses on the Island’s geology, native biodiversity and habitats. » With more than 300 birds, reptiles and mammals on display from oceanic islands, the Zoo is committed to the exhibition, breeding and reintroduction of threatened and endangered species. » The Bermuda Biodiversity Project (BBP) won the “Regional Conservation Award” from the American Zoo & Aquarium Association. Our BBP is the umbrella for research into local species, cataloguing and mapping the Island’s terrestrial and marine flora and fauna. » The BBP is home to the Bermuda Biodiversity Strategy & Action Plan – a true conservation plan, assigning responsibility for action to various environmental organizations and government departments. » BAMZ and BZS provide school classes for more that 9,000 school children and continue to assist the Department of Education in writing the curriculum for Government schools. » There is a roster of almost 300 volunteers who spend countless hours assisting throughout BAMZ and the BZS, assisting staff seven days a week in the Zoo, Aquarium, Museum, as tour guides and in the Education department. » We host over 100,000 visitors per annum, and receive membership support from more than 4,000 households and companies. » The Ministry of the Environment developed the Department of Conservation Services to capitalize on our programs. This department is headquartered at BAMZ.
